It's been nearly two years. I'm so sorry, and can only hope I can still entertain you all with my ramblings and artwork. I came back to thousands of notifications and messages to read through and clean out in addition to a bewildered feeling as I realized how much my work has progressed since my absence. You know that feeling when you're cleaning out your desk and you come across folders of old drawings from years or even months ago, and your immediate reaction is, "I did
that??? I hope to get some things posted soon to show you all what I've been working on in the last two years.
I just graduated from college about a week and a half ago, and I'm left wondering,
What now? I've been trying to take the time since then to get moved back home, organized and rested, as junior and senior year were pretty strenuous and left me so tired. I have my first freelance job, but it's for a friend, so I'm not asking nearly as much money as designers typically do. I know that I don't want to do freelance as a main source of income. There's going to be so much involved from dealing with the ever-messy issue of rights and ownership to figuring out sales tax (or taxes for self-employed people in general). Oy. A serious job hunt will be underway before the week is out. (Please, dear Lord, I really don't want to go back to bussing tables.) If anyone knows of any full-time graphic design jobs in the southeast area, send me a link? (Preferably dealing with print jobs; I'd like to avoid web design at all costs, as that is not my forté, but I
am willing to learn.) It'd be much appreciated!
In the mean time, while I'm back home living with my parents, searching for a full-time job, and trying to adjust to some changes in my personal life, I am also going to get back to work on my Treasure Planet fan fiction. I know I've left a lot of you all hanging. I guess I've been at a lull in the plot and am trying to figure out how to keep the flow going so I can get to all the exciting things to come later! Stick with me, guys, and I will get 'er done.
Thank you all for your patience as I focused on and finished up school projects. You guys are awesome!
Until next time (which will be much speedier than two years from now),
Em
